Job Description

Patrick Industries, Inc, including its KRA International division, invites you to join the team as a Wire Engineer on site in Elkhart, IN. In this role, you will design, develop, and ensure the reliability of wiring harnesses for the Recreational Vehicle market. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineers and production teams, leverage CAD tools to produce precise drawings and materials data, and contribute to dependable harness solutions that align with customer specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create and iterate wiring harness designs for the Recreational Vehicle sector.
  • Read, interpret, and implement complex wiring diagrams and specifications with accuracy.
  • Work closely with fellow engineers and specialists to integrate harnesses into larger systems.
  • Evaluate harness performance through testing to verify functionality and reliability across varying conditions.
  • Update and maintain technical drawings and manufacturing documentation related to harness design and processes.
  • Partner with internal and external engineers and customers to diagnose and resolve issues such as electrical shorts or signal interference.
  • Coordinate with production and procurement to manufacture high quality harnesses and source appropriate materials for construction.
  • Ensure that harness designs and manufacturing processes comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of advancements in wire harness technology and apply relevant innovations to design and manufacturing workflows.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to support development and production activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to production and quality teams before, during, and after manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited university is preferred.
  • We will consider relevant industry experience in lieu of a four-year degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of wire harness systems and materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, specifically AutoCAD and CADONIX, and other engineering software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • High level of diligence and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements.
