Job Description

This contract position focuses on the design release, development, and integration of vehicle electrical distribution systems. The role is based in Warren, Michigan with a hybrid work arrangement. The assignment is facilitated through Bartech Staffing, at an hourly rate of USD 45 to 50.

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial harness parts lists and perform complexity analyses to guide design decisions.
  • Oversee wiring system design, development, integration, and release activities to ensure a smooth program flow.
  • Coordinate supplier activities and provide support during technical reviews.
  • Keep program timing, requirements, issues, and change management activities aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support system integration efforts and participate in trade-off discussions to optimize architecture.
  • Monitor and manage metrics related to cost, quality, weight, and performance of power and signal distribution systems.
  • Support both virtual and physical vehicle build events to validate harness designs.
  • Lead or participate in Product Development Team meetings to advance design goals.
  • Contribute to benchmarking, peer reviews, wire harness assessments, and launch activities.
  • Perform engineering analyses and implement design changes as required.
  • Define system requirements and support testing and validation activities to verify compliance.
  • Release parts and subsystems for production readiness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience with vehicle electrical systems and/or wire harness design.
  • Understanding of power and signal distribution systems within automotive applications.
  • Experience releasing components into production environments.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes and collaboration with cross-functional program teams.
  • Working knowledge of product development and release cycles.
  • Basic understanding of CAD environments, packaging studies, and design analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate with CAD and design specialists to support packaging and integration activities.
