Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer opportunity at Northrop Grumman in Charlottesville, VA (onsite) with a salary range of USD 122,800 to 184,200 per year.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, operate, and maintain embedded software and firmware components and computing systems software to meet engineering, scientific, and manufacturing requirements.
- Apply established standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support engineering applications and products within the Targeting Business Unit.
- Interfacing with customers, suppliers, application users, and other technical and support personnel.
- Leverage full software development life cycle experience, including requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline; or in lieu of degree, an additional 4 years of experience.
- Object oriented programming in C++
- Familiarity with software architecture, design patterns, and object oriented design
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Batch, etc
- Experience developing embedded software running on Linux or VxWorks operating systems
- Familiarity with software development methodologies and frameworks such as Waterfall and/or Agile
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, ClearCase, etc) and Agile planning tools (Rally, Jira, etc)
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Secret clearance with potential for additional customer specified clearance prior to start

Compensation
The primary salary range is $122,800 to $184,200 per year. Offers are determined based on the scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
