Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain governed enterprise data models and reporting/analytics solutions using Epic-based electronic health data and other healthcare data sources
- Support quality metrics and regulatory requirements, plus clinical, operational, and research analytics needs
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across analytics engineering, data engineering, data architecture, and BI development within the Enterprise Data and Analytics Department
- Coordinate with other institutions across University of California Health to deliver reliable analytics products
- Use UCI Health tools including Microsoft Fabric, data transformation and governance tools, Git-based version control, and Microsoft Power BI
- Apply software engineering practices to data transformation, including version control, code review, automated testing, modular data modeling, and documentation
- Contribute to evolving from traditional report-writing analytics toward a modern data product organization
- Partner with end users to anticipate and understand how data models and structures can address clinical, operational, and research challenges
Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or combination of education and equivalent work experience
- 5+ years working in healthcare analytics experience using EHR data
- 5+ years of experience with SQL
- 3+ years of healthcare related analytics or reporting experience
- 3+ years of experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Crystal Reports, etc.
- Ability to perform basic performance tuning to optimize queries for user needs
- Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace for the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System, School of Medicine, UCI Research Administration, and other UC System campuses

- Experience developing code and maintaining technical documentation within a centralized code repository
- Epic Revenue cycle clarity data model certification(s)
- Epic Clarity / Caboodle Certification
- 5+ years experience with SSMS, SSIS, PowerBI, or Tableau
- 3+ years experience working with healthcare finance and revenue cycle data
- 3+ years experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms and architecture (e.g., Fabric, Databricks)
- 3+ years experience working with Epic EHR
- 3+ years experience using version control and collaborative code review workflows
- 1+ years of hands-on experience building and testing data models in dbt, including staging/intermediate/mart layer design and dbt tests
