Job Description
Stride, Inc. offers a remote AI Engineer role focused on building AI powered data products at scale. You will oversee end to end development and deployment, from model design and evaluation through production rollout, aligned with Stride coding best practices and business objectives. This position supports collaboration across Product and Engineering teams, emphasizes secure and scalable AI workflows, and centers on turning data into actionable insights that support student outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in applied AI, model development, APIs, and data pipelines, and present data in ways that reveal how users interact with our core products.
- Provide strategic guidance to Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities.
- Collaborate with IT managers, data stewards, and data engineers to ensure AI workflows are provisioned with high quality data and follow security, privacy, and scalability best practices.
- Translate business needs into practical AI solutions that influence product direction and drive measurable outcomes.
- Ensure AI outputs are measurable, documented, reproducible, and actively monitored for performance drift; implement continuous improvement and retraining as needed.
- Oversee the development of AI resources by gathering requirements, organizing data sources, and supporting the integration of AI models throughout the product lifecycle.
- Assume a leadership role on teams defining and evaluating strategies to improve academic outcomes through applied AI.
- Ensure Stride's AI capabilities support schools and school services teams, enabling adoption of actionable data to deliver improved outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI across different business units in support of Stride's mission and long term strategy.
- Show genuine enthusiasm for education and the Stride experience, inspiring colleagues and stakeholders to harness AI for meaningful impact on student success.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands on experience with modern ML libraries, including Python based frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, with a solid understanding of statistical principles.
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform to build scalable, secure, and high performing environments.
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain robust ML pipelines with version control, containerization, and CI/CD processes.
- Focus on model integrity and reliability, validating outputs to deliver precise and actionable insights.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, strong analytical skills, and a customer service orientation.
- Professional integrity to maintain confidentiality, plus strong planning skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete duties within critical deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Proficiency with modern reporting platforms and tools and the ability to grasp complex platform concepts and business models in a digital context.
- Ability to clear the required background check.

Compensation
Salary range: USD 66,380 - 145,000 per year. Final offers are shaped by education, experience, location, expected contributions, and benefits elections, and typically fall in the lower half of the stated range.
