AI Engineer / OpenAI

Motion Recruitment is hiring an AI Engineer for a contract opportunity based in Oak Brook, IL. This onsite role focuses on building production-grade Generative AI solutions in a collaborative enterprise setting, with hands-on engineering across the full lifecycle.

The work blends LLM development, Python API engineering, cloud and data platform integration, and MLOps practices. The stack includes Azure OpenAI and modern LLM frameworks to support scalable deployments.

What you will do

• 40% Generative AI and LLM development
• 25% Python API development
• 20% Cloud and data platform integration
• 15% MLOps, deployment, and optimization
• 75% Hands-on engineering
• 25% Team collaboration

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering or AI/ML experience
• 2+ years building Generative AI applications
• Strong Python development experience
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworks
• Knowledge of Azure OpenAI or enterprise LLM platforms
• Experience building RAG solutions and implementing vector search
• FastAPI or other API development experience
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline
