Applications Engineer-Food Applications

Hosokawa Micron International is seeking an Applications Engineer focused on Food Applications to bridge technology and customer needs within the food processing sector. This onsite role in Summit, New Jersey centers on applying Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems technologies to food processing, preparing technical and commercial proposals, coordinating equipment testing, and supporting customer success across the food industry.

Responsibilities

• Identify and qualify prospective customer opportunities through phone, email, virtual, and in-person engagement.
• Review and analyze customer specifications, process requirements, and application data to recommend appropriate equipment and process solutions.
• Evaluate material characteristics and processing parameters to determine appropriate equipment configurations.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and cost estimates using standard business software and internal systems.
• Coordinate and participate in customer equipment trials and testing activities domestically and internationally.
• Maintain and manage customer opportunities, project records, and sales activity within the CRM system.
• Analyze application requirements, sales data, and market trends to support business development efforts.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and sales teams to ensure alignment of technical solutions with customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with food processing companies, plant engineers, and production teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
• 3+ years of professional experience in application engineering, process engineering, or technical sales supporting industrial or process equipment within food manufacturing or food processing environments.
• 3+ years of experience working in environments operating under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and/or FDA-regulated production standards with an understanding of food processing operations.

Salary

USD 68,334 - 116,133 per year. Salaries/rates will vary and may be above or below this range based on factors including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
