Job Description

A hands-on Applied AI Engineer role at NYU Langone Health in New York, NY (onsite) offering a salary range of USD 84,577 - 126,000 per year, focused on delivering Generative AI and ML initiatives through collaboration with data scientists, business units, and IT partners.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy AI and ML applications using the organization’s technology stack, following software development best practices.
  • Work with data scientists to build or fine-tune high-performing AI models, applying contemporary techniques from current literature.
  • Build scalable, robust pipelines to support large data processing tasks.
  • Implement internal security and data protection standards within AI applications and help maintain AI system risk and security standards.
  • Prepare architecture and security documentation and support technical reviews and internal documentation for AI projects.
  • Engage with team members and stakeholders to meet objectives; shadow or work with clients to gather feature requirements, identify AI opportunities, create tickets, participate in backlog refinement, execute tickets, and contribute to code reviews.
  • Stay current with industry trends and cloud technologies; regularly share learnings with the team.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced team members.
  • Participate in all phases of the AI software development life cycle, including functional analysis, prototyping, development, evaluation, testing, deployment, refactoring, and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in AI solution development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or other languages commonly used for AI development.
  • Solid foundation in AI, machine learning, and deep learning concepts.
  • Experience with AI platforms such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience building large-scale or compute-intensive applications on clusters for data engineering, model training, and evaluation (HPC, Spark, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of software development principles, including data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
