Associate Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The County of Los Angeles Public Works offers an on-site Associate Electrical Engineer role in Los Angeles, CA. This position provides a monthly salary range of USD 9,471 to 12,089 and uses an exam-based selection process. The role focuses on designing, reviewing, and coordinating electrical systems to ensure NEC compliance across county infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Develop written plans for installing and maintaining electrical or electronic systems, using office productivity tools and professional engineering software (including CADD and BlueBeam) to ensure state code and NEC compliance for proposed or current county projects such as high voltage systems, lighting, energy source systems and modules, and automation systems.
- Read and evaluate single-line diagrams of proposed electrical systems for accuracy, proper sizing, and viable application to the project.
- Review plan submissions and design specifications from outside parties using applied mathematics and engineering software to ensure accuracy and NEC code compliance and safety standards.
- Assess customer submissions (e.g., project plans, cost estimates) for accuracy and viability.
- Approve plans or permits that meet NEC standards and align with relevant county policies.
- Review subordinate work (analysis, drafting) related to plans, specifications, or cost proposals to ensure accuracy, code compliance, and quality.
- Examine design plans, specifications, electronic logs, mathematical analyses, and computer reports to confirm information is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Prepare correspondence such as letters and emails to respond to customer inquiries or personnel complaints while adhering to Department and County guidelines.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information
