Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary interface with clients and external partners.
- Plans, directs, and manages discipline design work and the project budget for large, complex projects.
- Aids the Project Manager with proposals, man-hours estimates, and scheduling for the discipline scope on large/complex projects.
- Leads field surveys of existing conditions and supports field reporting with advanced experience.
- Identifies and resolves intermediate non-compliant conditions observed during site walks and construction field surveys.
- Develops internal discipline design and engineering training presentations at an intermediate level.
- Prepares construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications for advanced and complex projects with minimal oversight.
- Leads and provides advanced support for construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and construction progress reports.
- Performs quality checking of documents for intermediate and complex projects, including verification of design calculations and documentation, to drive overall project quality.
- Mentors discipline Engineer I, II and III and/or Designer I and II.
- Leads a discipline team in the execution of advanced projects, discipline design and engineering.
Requirements
- ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (ChemE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or Electrical Engineering (EE).
- Minimum of 15 years of experience, ideally in a design firm environment.
- Familiarity with control system application software development methodologies.
- Professional Engineer license (PE).
- ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) certification.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in discipline-specific software.
- Advanced knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments.
- Advanced experience performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system designs.
- Advanced experience implementing core design elements of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, and field wiring plans.
- Advanced experience developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Advanced knowledge of electrical codes.
- Advanced knowledge of other relevant industry standards.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and building codes.
- Intermediate experience designing Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Proficient in coordinating across internal and external cross-discipline project teams.
- Proficient in coordinating with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Proficient in performing advanced design calculations with limited supervision.
