Job Description

Fluence Energy is expanding its Battery Energy Storage performance practice in the Americas, anchored by on-site work in Houston. The Performance Engineer will assess how Fluence’s energy storage assets perform in real-world conditions, delivering data-driven analysis, testing programs, and cross-functional collaboration to meet customer commitments. This role blends technical rigor with practical execution in a fast-paced environment.

Role Overview

As a subject matter expert on the performance of battery energy storage systems within Fluence Americas, this position requires strong analytical capabilities and the ability to work across diverse teams. The role focuses on delivering high-quality results that align with customer commitments through data analysis, testing strategies, and cross-functional collaboration with battery, sales, operations and execution, services, and product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate site performance in line with customer contractual commitments and expectations
  • Develop data acquisition plans and point lists to support detailed performance analysis
  • Conduct DC and AC data analysis for battery systems using a range of analytical tools
  • Prepare and deliver testing reports for all customer projects during execution and services phases
  • Review customer contracts during the sales phase and provide redlines as needed
  • Interpret performance exhibits and single line diagrams to develop acceptance test plans based on contractual requirements
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute project work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and processes for performance engineering activities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with battery, sales, operations and execution, services, and product teams to identify and implement performance improvements, including design enhancements and testing strategies
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting and provide recommendations to improve site performance

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with an energy storage company
  • Strong understanding of AWS tools such as S3 and SageMaker, and proficiency in Python
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
