Chief Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Chief Mechanical Engineer position at GRW Engineers, Inc. in Lexington, KY (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and structural teams on diverse projects to design mechanical building systems.
- Provide multidisciplinary design input to ensure projects are structurally sound and mechanically complete, covering HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and the electrical systems sized to meet project requirements.
- Support water resources engineers by delivering code-compliant mechanical, electrical, and structural designs for wastewater and water facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state; ability to obtain Kentucky registration within six months and reciprocity with other states.
- 10 to 20 years of experience designing mechanical building systems in a consulting environment.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical system design including plumbing, fire protection, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and controls.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written English communication; ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other disciplines.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent time management.
- Experience in marketing, sales, and business development.
- Experience managing clients and projects.
- Ability to oversee a staff of up to 10 engineers and designers.
- Skill in planning project resources, maintaining schedules, and controlling budgets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of life cycle costing and HVAC modeling and simulation software.
- LEED accreditation.
