CMM Programming & Metrology Engineer

Isembard is building consistent, enterprise-wide capability in coordinate metrology across its manufacturing network. In this onsite role in Dallas, TX, the CMM Programming & Metrology Engineer will create standards, lead GD&T technical direction, and expand scalable inspection methodologies that can be deployed across multiple sites.

The position is responsible for developing and optimizing CMM programs and inspection strategies, validating measurement performance, and providing technical guidance and training to site personnel. This includes governance of programs and documentation, support for new product introduction, and continuous improvement focused on repeatability and measurement capability.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain enterprise standards for CMM programming, dimensional inspection, and metrology
• Establish standardized processes for inspection planning, program development, validation, approval, and revision control
• Create repeatable programming standards deployable across all Isembard manufacturing locations
• Develop best practices for first article inspection, production verification, capability studies, and process validation
• Standardize metrology processes, work instructions, and inspection documentation across the manufacturing network
• Develop, validate, and optimize CMM programs using Modus and other leading CMM software platforms
• Define inspection strategies using CAD models, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications
• Create highly automated, repeatable inspection programs that minimize operator intervention while maximizing measurement reliability
• Validate measurement uncertainty and ensure repeatability and reproducibility
• Support new product introduction with inspection planning and measurement strategy development
• Serve as the organization’s technical expert for ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and translate functional requirements into inspection strategies
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel on GD&T interpretation and application
• Develop internal training materials and standards to improve organizational GD&T competency
• Build and maintain enterprise inspection libraries, programming templates, and reusable measurement routines
• Evaluate and standardize metrology equipment, software, and inspection technologies across the network
• Support deployment of new manufacturing sites by establishing dimensional inspection capability and training local personnel
• Develop metrology governance including program review, approval, validation, and periodic verification processes
• Analyze dimensional inspection results and provide technical recommendations for manufacturing process improvement
• Support root cause investigations involving dimensional nonconformances
• Ensure CMM systems remain calibrated, maintained, and capable of meeting measurement system requirements
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, software updates, and hardware support
• Lead initiatives to improve inspection efficiency, repeatability, and measurement capability
• Evaluate emerging metrology technologies including optical scanning, vision systems, laser measurement, structured light, and automated inspection
• Support statistical process control and measurement system analysis (MSA)
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within inspection operations
• Mentor and develop CMM programmers, inspectors, and quality personnel across the organization
• Deliver training on CMM programming, inspection methodology, and GD&T
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, standardization, and continuous learning

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Metrology, or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5 years of advanced CMM programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience developing complex automated CMM inspection programs
• Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries
• Ability to travel up to approximately 25% to support network deployment and standardization initiatives

Compensation and location

• Location: Dallas, TX (onsite)
• Salary range: USD 80,000 - 160,000 per year
