Commissioning Engineer - Data Centers
Job Description
This onsite role in Arlington, VA oversees field commissioning activities for data center projects across the United States, ensuring that MEP and controls systems meet OPR standards while collaborating with the project team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support field commissioning for both greenfield and retrofit data center projects
- Perform independent commissioning design reviews to verify adherence to OPR
- Contribute to the development of the project commissioning plan and associated L1-L5 procedures
- Assist in integrating commissioning activities within the overall construction schedule
- Conduct on site inspections to confirm installation quality and system readiness
- Collaborate with project stakeholders throughout all phases of construction
- Oversee energization, startups, checkout, testing, and integrated systems testing of critical systems
- Verify OPR compliance for major infrastructure systems: UPS systems and switchgear
- Verify OPR compliance for major infrastructure systems: Generators and paralleling gear
- Verify OPR compliance for major infrastructure systems: Air distribution equipment including AHUs, FCUs, CRAH/CRAC units, and cooling systems
- Verify OPR compliance for major infrastructure systems: Hydronic systems including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and control valves
- Verify OPR compliance for major infrastructure systems: Building Management Systems (BMS) / Electrical Power Monitoring
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies through resolution
- Prepare commissioning reports and closeout documentation
- Support client training and turnover activities
- Maintain strong situational awareness and comply with site safety and AECOM safety requirements
Requirements
- BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 4 years of experience, or demonstrated equivalency
- 4 years of commissioning, design, or construction experience in mission-critical environments
- Advanced understanding of data center infrastructure and supporting systems
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work
