Control Systems Engineer
Job Description
This full-time role centers on designing and programming control systems for large-scale industrial projects in midstream gas processing, refining, and petrochemical sectors. The position emphasizes PLC and DCS programming, HMI development, and control-system design, with project locations including Odessa, Abilene, or Houston, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the lead control systems engineer on designated projects.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, engineering and construction project managers, and clients (approximately 10% of duties).
- Contribute to the initial project schedule and assist in maintaining schedules for assigned projects (about 5%).
- Lead process quality reviews and approve drawings in the role of lead engineer (roughly 20%).
- Execute PLC and DCS programming tasks and configure HMIs (approximately 40%).
- Conduct Software Factory Acceptance Tests and Hardware Acceptance Tests for the plant control system (about 25%).
- Provide man-hour and equipment estimates to support project proposals.
- Manage work under pressure while coordinating multiple activities.
- Operate with a self-motivated, collaborative approach.
REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an engineering discipline with equivalent instrumentation, electrical, and control-systems experience is required.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience is required; 10+ years is preferred.
- Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs and Wonderware HMI development is required.
- DeltaV programming experience is a plus.
- Industrial networking experience is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the willingness to go the extra mile to complete tasks.
- EIT licensure is required or the ability to obtain licensure after joining the company.
- Strong troubleshooting skills are required.
- Commissioning and start-up experience is required.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment; professional and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Well-developed, detail-oriented organizational skills.
