Control Systems Engineer III
Job Description
The Control Systems Engineer III role at TEC Systems Group is focused on developing and integrating automation applications for industrial plants, delivering PLC and HMI programming, and supporting project management from concept through installation, start-up, and ongoing support. The position is based onsite in Wichita, Kansas, with mentoring responsibilities for junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing technical support and analysis for installed control systems.
- Design PLC logic and create HMI graphics tailored to specific projects.
- Perform engineering calculations using standard methods and apply judgment based on experience.
- Contribute to the development of project specifications, estimates, change orders, and schedules.
- Oversee assigned portions of projects and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Gather relevant information related to problems and present findings to the team for discussion.
- Develop alternatives and collaborate to identify viable options.
- Assist colleagues and project managers with project tasks at both the office and the customer site.
- Collaborate with vendors on occasion to procure equipment and materials.
- Support plant electrical personnel by understanding, designing, and troubleshooting electrical control circuits.
- Assist in designing electrical circuits for instrumentation, motor control, and related electrical controls.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of PLC system architecture and control equipment usage.
- Ability to specify PLC I/O addressing and assignments.
- Experience programming Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix platforms.
- HMI graphics design experience with GE iFix, WonderWare, or FactoryTalk View ME and SE.
- Familiarity with common industrial network topology and functionality.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
- Knowledge of continuous or semi-continuous process control and material handling.
- Experience with refining, grinding, crushing processes or solid/bulk material handling and conveying.
- Experience designing industrial electrical controls and coordinating with original equipment manufacturers.
- Experience designing control network infrastructures.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of NEC standards and industrial best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates a helpful, courteous, and professional demeanor.

Position Details

- Salary: USD 90,000 – 130,000 per year
- Minimum Experience: 5 years
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
