Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product management and application engineering to interpret product requirements into actionable control solutions.
- Design and refine control strategies and algorithms to meet or exceed targets.
- Create technical specifications used by software development and verification teams.
- Communicate design intent clearly to teammates to ensure accurate implementation.
- Lead dynamic controls testing, including test planning, lab support, and data analysis.
- Develop and execute hardware-in-the-loop testing with real-time data analysis.
- Advance model-driven development practices within the team.
- Occasional overnight travel is required, less than 5% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in control theory.
- Foundational knowledge of classical control (PID, linear control, digital filtering).
- Strong system modeling skills with proficiency in Matlab/Simulink; Stateflow experience is a plus.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Programming proficiency in C++ with the ability to learn additional languages.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment; mobility within the office and travel to Trane locations.
- Technical skills include Matlab/Simulink, Modelica, C++, Python.
- Knowledge of heat transfer, refrigeration systems, thermodynamics and HVAC compressor technologies.
