Job Description
Vantage Data Centers Management Company LLC is seeking an on-site Critical Facilities Engineer in Santa Clara, California to oversee the maintenance and repair of data center electrical and mechanical systems. This role supports ensuring maximum uptime by working with a team to monitor, troubleshoot, and sustain critical infrastructure in a demanding environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate with limited supervision, functioning both independently and as part of a team.
- Manage multiple one-time and ongoing projects to meet objectives.
- Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a secure work environment.
- Use judgment to organize workflows and adapt as priorities shift in a dynamic setting.
- Maintain frequent contact with colleagues across the organization and with external vendors.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience, with 5+ years preferred, maintaining and repairing industrial electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities, including emergency generators, fuel delivery, parallel switchgear, MV/LV switchgear and controls, critical/essential PDUs, UPS, switchgear, HVAC, air handling units, computer-grade cooling systems, and building monitoring/automation systems.
- Knowledge of operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting and testing critical electrical distribution, HVAC and building management/automation equipment.
- Ability to read commercial building blueprints and understand electrical single-lines and schematics.
- Familiarity with concepts and procedures related to mechanical and electrical systems used to run data centers.
- Technical writing skills with experience creating, coordinating, updating and/or revising MOPs, SOPs and EOPs for critical facilities equipment, including support for new systems and researching technical requirements.
- Electrical or mechanical field experience is highly desired; strong emphasis on technical skills with intent to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Potential need to complete formal training in specialties such as UPS maintenance.
- Reliable transportation for shifts and emergency reporting.
- Travel expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training.
- Successful completion of a background check.

Essential Job Functions

Duties
- Operate and service critical data center systems including UPS, PDU, Diesel Generators, ATS, Building Controls, Chillers, CRAH, and related infrastructure.
- Develop reliability reports to ensure availability targets and capacity targets are met with 100 percent uptime.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance vendors to protect equipment and sustain power to the critical load while ensuring personnel safety.
- Create and maintain MOPs, SOPs and EOPs to guide maintenance activities and support new systems.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands and Special Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and climb/balance for portions of the shift (roughly one third to two thirds of the time).
- Capability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl for similar portions.
- Reach with hands and arms; frequent use of hands for typing and handling.
- Sense of smell, speech and hearing; near and distant vision including color perception.
- Comfort working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and on-call support.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds about one third of the time.
Additional Details
- Salary Range: $51.00 - $65.00 per hour plus bonus, plus shift differential for graveyard or swing shifts (California market data; may vary by location).
- Work week: Front Half from Sunday to Wednesday or Back Half from Wednesday to Saturday.
- Shift pattern: 4x10s.
- Days: 05:00am-3:30pm
- Swing: 1:00pm-11:30pm
- Graveyard: 9:00pm-7:30am
