Cyber Machine Learning Engineer, Senior

Booz Allen Hamilton seeks a Senior Cyber Machine Learning Engineer for an onsite role in Arlington, VA. This position focuses on applying machine learning to cyber defense and threat hunting, building production-ready models to detect advanced threats for DoD, federal, and commercial clients. Responsibilities

• Accelerate cyber defense and threat hunting by deploying machine learning to enable near real-time detection and response for DoD, federal, and commercial customers.
• Leverage open-source tools, innovative methods, and cloud resources to reduce false positives and shorten detection cycles.
• Implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines to minimize manual testing and troubleshooting.
• Identify opportunities to apply machine learning to unique cyber defense use cases.
• Build, train, and package production-ready models that detect advanced persistent threats, following software development best practices.
• Stay current with advances in machine learning and cybersecurity, demonstrating curiosity and a drive to develop novel solutions.
• Contribute to cutting-edge operational technologies in cybersecurity settings.

Requirements

• 2+ years in cyber threat hunting and analysis of compromises within security logs, including endpoint and network data
• 2+ years of exploring datasets, training machine learning models to perform inference, and using the outputs to advance cyber investigations
• Experience with MITRE ATT&CK framework, MISP threat sharing, or cyber intelligence platforms including seQure
• Experience packaging and deploying production-level models using Python, Bash, Docker, or Kubernetes
• Experience with data warehousing, ETL, or data streaming technologies, including Kafka
• Experience with SIEM technologies such as Splunk or ElasticSearch
• Experience developing novel solutions for challenging problems
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

• Experience working with large language models (LLMs), NLP, and data science workflows
• Experience with data brokers, including Kafka, Confluent, Benthos, RedPanda, or RabbitMQ
• Experience with cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, or GovCloud, or distributed systems
• TS/SCI clearance
• Master’s degree preferred; Doctorate degree a plus

Compensation

The typical annual salary range for this position is $99,000 to $225,000 USD, with final figures determined by location, education, experience, and contract requirements. This range reflects Booz Allen Hamilton's compensation philosophy and is one component of total compensation.
