Job Description
Data Analytics Engineer position in Bozeman, MT (remote) focusing on the Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse stack, Power BI reporting, and analytics across sales, inventory, customer, and finance to drive insights and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, data-driven analytics solutions.
- Demonstrate hands-on expertise with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including Lakehouse, PySpark/SQL notebooks, data pipelines, and deployment pipelines; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics as a data source is a plus.
- Design data models that connect the Fabric Lakehouse, Power BI semantic models, and reporting layers to ensure consistency across raw, curated, and business-facing data.
- Optimize data models for efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis while preserving data integrity and reliability; knowledge of Fabric capacity optimization is desirable.
- Implement data integration pipelines using Fabric and complementary tools to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into a unified data platform.
- Build visually engaging dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI and DAX to enable actionable insights.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and apply targeted optimizations to data processing, queries, and overall system efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Stay current with advancements in data analytics technologies and industry trends, applying best practices to solution design and implementation.
Requirements
- Experience as a Data Engineer owning core data pipelines, with a focus on Microsoft Fabric and Azure technologies.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Fabric including the medallion architecture with Lakehouse, PySpark notebooks, and data/deployment pipelines.
- Proven ability to design and maintain scalable semantic models (Power BI / Tabular / DAX) delivering a governed analytics layer across the business.
- Establish and maintain best practices for version control, CI/CD, testing, and deployment of data pipelines and semantic models.
- Proficiency in data visualization using Power BI and DAX.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design scalable, efficient data analytics architectures.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, governance, and data quality principles.
- Awareness of data security and compliance considerations in analytics contexts.
- Customer-focused approach to supporting teams and business functions with analytics needs.
- Ability to present, facilitate, and participate in requirements elicitation and brainstorming in small to medium group environments.
- A track record of delivering impactful solutions with ownership and accountability.
