Data Engineer
Job Description
Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to design and sustain analytical data infrastructure, develop metrics and dashboards, and enable data-driven decision making. This on-site role in Dallas, TX collaborates with data scientists and business intelligence engineers to transform data into actionable insights within AWS’s cloud ecosystem. The position offers a salary range of USD 132,100 to 178,800 per year and requires a bachelor's degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain an analytical data infrastructure
- Oversee AWS resources such as EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, and related services
- Collaborate with cross-functional tech teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources using SQL and AWS big data tools
- Evaluate and adopt emerging AWS technologies to deliver new capabilities and improve efficiency
- Work with Data Scientists and BIEs to identify and promote best practices in reporting and analysis
- Continuously enhance reporting and analysis workflows, automating or simplifying self-service options for customers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience as a data engineer or related field (such as software engineering, BI engineering, or data science) with a proven ability to manipulate, process, and derive value from large datasets
- Three or more years building and operating large-scale data structures for BI analytics, with strong SQL experience
- Experience leading technically and mentoring other engineers on data engineering best practices
- Experience designing and operating highly available distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large datasets
- Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
