Data Engineer

Data Engineer role in Cottage Grove, WI (hybrid) focused on shaping Summit Credit Union's data strategy and turning data into actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement Summit Credit Union's enterprise data strategy to align with business goals and technology initiatives.
• Design, construct, and sustain data architectures, databases, data models, and integration pipelines enabling scalable and dependable data management.
• Collaborate with business leaders, developers, engineers, and IT teams to capture data requirements and deliver solutions that create business value.
• Put in place and uphold data governance practices that guarantee data quality, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Examine complex datasets to uncover trends, address key questions, and support informed decisions.
• Utilize historical data and analytics to generate insights and build predictive models for future outcomes.
• Advise on and deploy data tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance data capabilities and operational efficiency.
• Create and track KPIs and metrics for data consumption, integration, and usage.
• Protect data from unauthorized access while ensuring accessibility for authorized users.
• Apply independent judgment when assessing technologies, data solutions, and business opportunities.
• Explain technical concepts and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 8 years of experience in data management roles or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of cloud architecture and modern data management practices.
• Strong technical skills in data analytics, database design, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of data governance, data integration, and enterprise data management practices.
• Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify innovative solutions using new technologies and methodologies.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment when recommending technologies and business solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
