Job Description
At KeHE Distributors, LLC, the Data Engineer will help design, build, and support software solutions that map to business objectives and customer needs. This onsite role in Naperville, IL works closely with product teams to deliver secure, scalable applications using modern technologies and agile practices.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain software features and services by writing clean, maintainable, efficient code aligned with established engineering standards and design patterns.
- Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers.
- Participate in agile development activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives to keep work defined and prioritized.
- Support software quality and reliability through testing best practices, CI/CD integration, and stable, scalable application components.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across product, design, QA, and engineering to deliver cohesive, well-integrated product capabilities.
- Monitor and improve system performance and product usage using logs, analytics, and performance metrics to validate releases and guide post-release improvements.
- Continuously advance engineering practices by learning new technologies, sharing knowledge with peers, and contributing to improvements in tools and workflows.
Skills and experience
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks, with the ability to build maintainable code and apply design patterns and engineering best practices.
- Ability to understand product goals and user needs and translate them into technical solutions that deliver business value.
- Experience working with product managers, designers, QA, and engineers to deliver high-quality features and address technical or delivery challenges.
- Ability to incorporate analytics, logs, and system metrics into development and validation to improve product performance and reliability.
- Capability to learn new technologies quickly, adapt to shifting product priorities, and actively contribute to team knowledge-sharing and engineering improvements.
- At least three years of professional experience with data engineering tools and cloud platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, architecture, and governance best practices.
- Experience with analytics, BI, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with ML/AI engineering, MLOps, and model deployment practices.
- Expertise in data integration, API design, and event-driven architectures.
- Product mindset focused on prioritizing by value, outcomes, and customer impact, along with excellent communication and collaboration across technical and business groups.

Compensation and location

- Salary: USD 78,210 - 114,648 per year
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field preferred, or similar coding education alternatives to traditional four-year degrees
