Data Engineer, Analytics (Technical Leadership)

Onsite Data Engineer, Analytics (Technical Leadership) at Meta in San Francisco, CA, with a base salary range of USD 210,000 to 281,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Drive the vision for data foundation and analytics to accelerate cross platform components across Instagram and implement a plan to realize that vision.
• Own the data architecture for multiple large scale initiatives, weighing design choices against operational costs and benefits.
• Build and improve logging data frameworks, partnering with data infrastructure to triage and resolve issues.
• Establish strong cross functional partnerships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to translate data needs into solutions.
• Define and manage service level agreements for datasets within areas of ownership.
• Define security models aligned with privacy requirements, enforce safeguards, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes.
• Design, build, and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations supporting use cases across products and domains.
• Address complex data integration challenges using optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques across structured and unstructured sources.
• Contribute to ownership of existing production processes and optimize code through advanced algorithmic approaches.
• Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline development of data artifacts.
• Influence product and cross functional teams to identify data opportunities with measurable impact.
• Mentor team members by delivering and receiving actionable feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in the data warehouse space.
• 10+ years of experience in custom ETL design, implementation, and maintenance.
• 10+ years of experience with object oriented programming languages.
• 10+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• 10+ years of experience authoring SQL statements.
• Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
• Experience managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS/BA in a technical field, Computer Science or Mathematics.

Compensation ranges from USD 210,000 to USD 281,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
