Design Engineer III - Control Systems

Fluor Corporation is seeking a Design Engineer III - Control Systems for an onsite role in Greenville, SC. In this position, you will design and execute moderately complex control systems engineering assignments while also serving as an Area Lead on assigned projects, supporting both technical delivery and coordination across teams.

You will apply engineering techniques to develop and review specifications and design criteria, and manage technical work that can include procurement-related activities. This role blends hands-on engineering problem solving with leadership over project execution for the discipline.

Role Summary

• Apply engineering techniques, develop and review specifications/design criteria, and manage technical work including procurement-related activities

Responsibilities

• Use Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
• Participate in activities tied to equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
• Assign work to teams and monitor and manage the work
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems
• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and pursue discrepancy resolution
• Analyze and provide independent recommendations on solutions for problems of varying complexity in line with organization or project objectives and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree in an engineering field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience
• A recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required
• Some locations may have additional or different qualifications to meet local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job-related technical knowledge needed to complete the role
• Ability to learn and apply applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Detail-oriented work style with time-conscious and time-effective execution
• Professional registration and membership in a technical society (preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and cost of materials
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills, including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation programs

Compensation and Location

• Location: Greenville, SC (onsite)
• Salary: USD 92,000 - 171,000 per year
