Role Summary

The Diesel Fuel Injector Remanufacturing Engineer will lead the development, supervision, and optimization of remanufacturing processes for diesel fuel injectors to meet or exceed OEM specifications and performance standards. The engineer will apply mechanical, quality and manufacturing engineering principles to ensure the reliability and performance of remanufactured injectors while driving process efficiency and cost reduction.

Essential Functions

  • Direct the disassembly, inspection, refurbishment, assembly and testing of diesel fuel injectors.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions for remanufacturing processes.
  • Design or specify specialized tooling, fixtures and test equipment required for remanufacturing.
  • Ensure proper operation of test equipment; calibrate and maintain testing instruments; troubleshoot faults in testing machinery.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance and production teams to address defects and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Perform root cause analysis on failed components or assemblies and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze data to improve performance, cycle time and yield of remanufactured products.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to technicians and assembly personnel.
  • Stay current with diesel injection technology trends and remanufacturing best practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient and economical use of materials, improve methods and eliminate wasteful practices.
  • Maintain machinery, equipment and facilities for efficient production and communicate the need for corrective action to the appropriate personnel.
  • Be available for alternate shifts, extended work hours, and attend meetings as needed to support production and process releases.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by supervision; work across departments; maintain excellent hand/eye coordination; lift up to 40 pounds.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of testing experience, specifically with diesel fuel injection systems; experience with teardown, assembly and testing equipment is required.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, particularly fuel injection systems (Common rail, unit injectors, etc.).
  • Competence with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Proficiency with test equipment including pressure and flow measurement devices, injector testers and data logging systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools, methods and software for fuel system analysis is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure; creative, data-driven thinking.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, share ideas and contribute to shared goals.
  • Certification in diesel engine systems or fuel injection technologies is a plus.

Job Details and Compensation

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: 65,000.00 – 80,000.00 per year
