Job Description

Durability Test Engineer role for autonomous robotaxi programs at ALTEN Technology USA, onsite in East Liberty, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive whole-vehicle durability and accelerated mileage accumulation AMA test plans across diverse terrains and environmental conditions.
  • Lead proving ground, road, and facility based durability testing, ensuring adherence to rigorous test cycles and safety procedures.
  • Plan and execute on-vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition setups to accurately capture loads, strains, and vibrations on critical structures and systems.
  • Investigate on-road and early-field durability issues, performing root-cause analysis through hands-on inspection and data evaluation.
  • Monitor durability and reliability of newly integrated components such as suspension, steering, and brakes during vehicle-level testing to confirm life and function.
  • Produce detailed test reports, track degradation rates and failure modes, and communicate actionable findings and proposed design mitigations to the Vehicle Design and CAE teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in whole-vehicle durability testing, RLDA, or performance validation in the automotive or heavy equipment sectors.
  • Experience with electric vehicles (EVs) is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience installing on-vehicle instrumentation including strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers, and thermocouples.
  • Experience configuring and operating multi-channel data acquisition hardware (Somat, HBM, Dewetron) for vehicle testing.
  • Working knowledge of data processing and analysis using nCode GlyphWorks, MATLAB, or Python for large-scale time-series data.
  • Familiarity with automotive proving ground test procedures and standards such as Belgian Block, potholes, and rough-road testing.

Salary Range

  • USD 80,000 to 90,000 per year
