Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Nokomis, Inc. is developing advanced sensor technologies, and this Electrical Engineer role helps drive the hardware that supports electromagnetic sensing, EM-based spectroscopy, and signature assessment. The position is full-time and on-site in Canonsburg, PA, supporting work that spans RF/digital/analog PCB development, product performance optimization, and engineering documentation. Due to government contracts, US citizenship is required.
What you will do
- Design and develop state-of-the-art multi-layer circuit boards integrating Radio Frequency (RF), digital, and analog components.
- Apply high-level skills in circuit design and schematic capture for densely populated builds.
- Use front-end knowledge including filtering and Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) implementation and integration into an end-to-end integrated product.
- Support hardware development and production across current electromagnetic sensing, spectroscopy, and signature assessment projects.
- Lead fabrication and production of new hardware designs that enable new features in the product suite.
- Coordinate PCB hardware development through design reviews, schematic reviews, and layout reviews.
- Manage power supply design and monitor power distribution for reliable performance.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to keep work within scope, budget, and on time while meeting performance requirements.
- Generate and maintain engineering documentation including assembly drawings and test procedures.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance.
- Act as Principal Investigator (PI) for proposal writing to win future R&D efforts and support funding contribution presentations.
- Present R&D proposals for funding and contribute to funding presentations.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related discipline). Master’s preferred. 7+ years experience anticipated.
- Experience with multi-layer, highly integrated, densely populated PCB builds, design, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge and experience with embedded systems programming (microprocessor, FPGA, CPLD).
- Comfort and aptitude in analog and digital circuit design.
- Experience with electronic testing and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with coding such as C, C++, VHDL and other code that may be instantiated into designs.
- Hands-on ability for soldering and assembly, including discrete wiring, breadboarding, and PCB repair.

Additional desired skills
- Preferred: programming experience or familiarity with Git, C#, C++, VHDL, Visual Studio, Vivado, FPGA, MATLAB/Octave, Python, Autodesk Inventor, including how they are used to instantiate designs.
- Preferred: RF, microwave, or millimeter wave spectroscopy experience.
- Preferred: VHDL.
