Electronics Engineer

Join the U.S. Space Systems Command to support the U.S. Space Force System Delta 85 Battle Awareness team on ground radar modernization for missile warning and space surveillance.

Responsibilities

• Act as the organization’s foremost technical specialist for the Ground Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program, recapitalizing critical missile warning and space surveillance sensors into a resilient, unified digital architecture.
• Use advanced signal processing, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and artificial intelligence to deliver modular capabilities needed to maintain warfighting edge.
• Manage complex ground sustainment projects and independently lead and sustain complex ground-based space systems within contested warfighting domains.
• Translate weapon system requirements into robust design criteria and apply systems engineering principles for sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management.
• Resolve unprecedented design and technical challenges where precedents do not exist.
• Troubleshoot integrated ground systems and provide technical direction for electronic systems or devices.
• Influence senior leadership decisions and deliver authoritative briefings to senior agency officials and external contractors to steer program progress and executive-level decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and draft technically precise documentation.
• Apply standard federal acquisition regulations and DoD policies in program execution and advisory services.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution required.
• File OGE-450 “Confidential Disclosure Report” within 30 days of assuming the position and by 31 October annually thereafter.
• Position designated a non-critical APDP position.
• Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
• TDY expected: approximately 20 days per year.
• Depending on position type selected (competitive/excepted), must serve either a 1-year probationary period or a 2-year trial period.
• Employment will be terminated after probation/trial unless continued employment is certified, in writing, as advancing the public interest.

• Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to apply advanced engineering theories to project development, execution, and advisory services.
• Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications and provide technical advice and direction for weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
• Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
• Knowledge of systems engineering practices for sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management, including standard acquisition regulations and procedures.
• Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches and assess impact of new technology on existing systems and processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with technical accuracy; use computers and software/databases to gather and analyze program information; make sound judgments; and provide recommendations to higher organizational management and contractors.
