Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Embedded Linux software engineer position at Apogee Electronics in Santa Monica, CA, focused on real-time driver, kernel and application development for a Linux-based audio platform, with board bring-up and prototype work in a small agile team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with hardware and software designers within a small, agile design group.
• Contribute to the development of a real-time audio platform running on Linux.
• Assist with bring-up of custom hardware boards.
• Develop prototypes to validate key design concepts and surface constraints early.
• Partner with audio application developers to evaluate driver and system performance.
• Coordinate with hardware engineers on peripherals and interfaces for custom hardware.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in software development and embedded systems engineering
• Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Strong Linux kernel and driver development experience
• Proficiency in C and C++
• Understanding of real-time optimization and design trade-offs
• Experience with ARM and SOC device development; Altera SoC experience is a plus
• Low-level programming of peripherals and interfaces with diverse embedded MCU toolsets
• Basic understanding of audio recording, digital audio workstation software, and audio interface hardware is a plus
• Experience in audio application development or signal processing is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, hardworking, able to work independently and within a team
• Authorized to work in the United States
