Job Description
Embedded Linux software engineer position at Apogee Electronics in Santa Monica, CA, focused on real-time driver, kernel and application development for a Linux-based audio platform, with board bring-up and prototype work in a small agile team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software designers within a small, agile design group.
- Contribute to the development of a real-time audio platform running on Linux.
- Assist with bring-up of custom hardware boards.
- Develop prototypes to validate key design concepts and surface constraints early.
- Partner with audio application developers to evaluate driver and system performance.
- Coordinate with hardware engineers on peripherals and interfaces for custom hardware.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in software development and embedded systems engineering
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Strong Linux kernel and driver development experience
- Proficiency in C and C++
- Understanding of real-time optimization and design trade-offs
- Experience with ARM and SOC device development; Altera SoC experience is a plus
- Low-level programming of peripherals and interfaces with diverse embedded MCU toolsets
- Basic understanding of audio recording, digital audio workstation software, and audio interface hardware is a plus
- Experience in audio application development or signal processing is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, hardworking, able to work independently and within a team
- Authorized to work in the United States
