Job Description

Energy 350 offers a hybrid remote and on-site Energy Efficiency Engineer role based in the Boise area. You will identify and quantify energy savings for commercial and industrial customers across Idaho while helping them access utility incentives. The position blends field work with data-driven analysis and reporting, with a supportive culture that values balanced work-life, growth, and collaboration. The role covers projects throughout Idaho Power territory, primarily from Boise to Pocatello, with relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical energy efficiency studies of industrial and commercial mechanical systems to uncover savings opportunities.
  • Partner with customers to scope, develop, and plan energy efficiency projects.
  • Provide high level energy engineering analyses to inform customer decisions.
  • Execute retrocommissioning and building controls optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with mechanical contractors to scope HVAC energy efficiency projects and communicate utility incentive requirements.
  • Perform on-site measurement and verification of energy projects.
  • Produce clear, concise technical reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support Strategic Energy Management activities at commercial and industrial sites.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years in energy efficiency or mechanical engineering.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems and building science.
  • Experience analyzing energy systems and quantifying annual savings.
  • Experience conducting ASHRAE Level II Audits.
  • Ability to identify field equipment and explain control methods and retrofit options to conserve energy.
  • High energy, self-starter with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, with solid project and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • P.E., EIT, and/or CEM preferred.

Location and work arrangement

The role is based in Eagle, ID with hybrid remote work, combining work from home and on-site activities. The position covers Idaho Power’s territory, primarily from Boise to Pocatello, and relocation assistance is available.

Travel

  • Contracts primarily in Southern Idaho with occasional travel to customer sites; most travel occurs within the workday.

Compensation and schedule

Base pay range is $80,000 – $140,000 per year. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday) with eligibility for an annual bonus and profit sharing in addition to base pay.
