Lead Energy Engineer

Join an onsite energy engineering team in Edgewater, MD and help drive measurable building performance outcomes. In this role, you will lead day-to-day engineering execution while strengthening engineering standards, quality assurance, and customer communication. You will also have room to modernize workflows through AI and automation, improving how recommendations are delivered and adopted across facilities.

This position is paid USD 115,000 - 130,000 per year and requires approximately 4+ years of experience, with leadership potential demonstrated through prior work.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily execution of an engineering team focused on building performance and energy engineering.
• Review Building Tune-Ups, energy savings calculations, and complex pre-approvals.
• Develop engineering standards, including QA checklists, SOPs, and best practices.
• Hold engineers accountable for quality, communication, and deadlines.
• Coach and mentor engineering staff through regular feedback and training.
• Act as the technical point of contact for clients with customers and utility representatives.
• Improve communication with facility operators so recommendations are understood and adopted.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, and cross-functional teams including BAS, Service, and Implementation.
• Identify additional customer opportunities and support cross-selling across clients.
• Champion AI, automation, and workflow improvements to enhance execution and results.

Requirements

• 4–8+ years of experience with demonstrated leadership potential.
• Background in Energy Engineering, BAS, Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, ESCOs, or Building Performance.
• Advanced Excel, including energy savings calculations and bin weather analysis.
• Strong BAS knowledge, including systems such as Niagara, Trane, Siemens, Schneider, JCI, and Honeywell.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Highly organized and comfortable managing many concurrent projects.
• Excited by AI and continuous improvement.
• Energy Engineering: 4 years (Required)
• Commissioning or Retro Commissioning: 3 years (Required)
• Building Automation: 2 years (Required)
