Job Description

Join PPL Services Corporation in Allentown, Pennsylvania as an Engineer I/II/III/Principal. Under supervision, you will work on challenging engineering tasks that span planning, designing, and overseeing the construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical transmission, distribution, and utilization components and facilities. This onsite position provides exposure to multiple project stages and opportunities to grow technical and professional capabilities.

Location: Allentown, PA (onsite)

Responsibilities

  • Assist on smaller engineering projects or clearly defined portions of larger initiatives, applying established procedures to analyze problems and produce technically correct, cost-effective designs or recommendations.
  • Develop relationships across teams to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure effective presentation of work products to related groups and stakeholders.
  • Work under supervision in field or office settings across a range of structured tasks that develop core competencies in the function or discipline.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using well defined procedures, including routine testing of components and systems and supporting engineering studies.
  • Continually expand technical and business skills, pursuing initiative with guidance from others to advance capabilities.
  • Assist in developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations, or new or improved equipment purchase recommendations.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job and may be designated as safety sensitive where applicable.
  • May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role, which may require after-hours work to restore power or respond to issues affecting customer service.
  • Assigned work location may be on-site, remote, or a combination of both, with potential requirements to be on-site for face-to-face coordination.

Requirements

  • ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 2 years of engineering experience; utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience.
  • ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 5 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 2 years of engineering experience; utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience.
  • ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 10 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 8 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 7 years of engineering experience; utility system operator experience will be counted as engineering experience for this position.
