Engineer/Principal Engineer RF Microwave Design
Job Description
Northrop Grumman is seeking experienced RF engineers for RF/Microwave design and related RF testing, analysis, integration, and subsystem control activities. This role is onsite in Baltimore, MD and operates on second shift.
Onsite Location and Shift
- Location: Baltimore, MD (onsite)
- Shift: Second shift (1PM to 9PM, Monday through Friday)
- Shift differential: 10%
Role Summary
Responsibilities center on testing and troubleshooting Line Replacement Modules (LRM) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) within an RF architecture. The position also supports subsystem analysis from RF through digits, requirements verification, and performance testing, while communicating technical approaches and findings clearly.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and troubleshoot Line Replacement Modules (LRM) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) of RF architecture
- Recommend data-driven adjustments to requirements threshold targets
- Perform subsystem analysis spanning hardware from RF to digits
- Support performance testing activities
- Conduct requirements verification
- Communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and results
- Troubleshoot complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity
Qualifications and Clearance Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Active clearance: Government Secret clearance required for start
- Travel: Yes, 10% of the time
- Clearance contingency: Contingent upon candidates having a current, active Government Secret Clearance
Education and experience align to the selected level:
- Engineer level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of experience in areas described in the job description; 0 years with a Master’s Degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Principal Engineer level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5 years of experience in areas described in the job description; 3 years with a Master’s Degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
Additional requirements include demonstrated problem-solving skills across RF/Microwave design and test problems of increasing scope and complexity, proven electrical engineering knowledge along with relevant design software and equipment, and expertise in testing and troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience testing, troubleshooting, or designing RF hardware/subsystems
- Experience troubleshooting electronic equipment to the component level
- Experience with RF lab test equipment such as signal generator, oscilloscope, and spectrum analyzer
- Hands-on experience with at least one type of test set including CRFTS, LM-STAR, Hiller test sets, or Phase Noise test sets and consoles
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving HW/SW integration problems
- Experience using or developing software to control hardware (such as MATE or AMAX)
- Experience with test scripting, data analysis, and/or signal processing
- Experience mentoring other design and/or RF test engineers

Compensation
- Primary level salary range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00 (USD)
- Secondary level salary range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00 (USD)
