Job Description
Excelon Solutions offers an onsite contract-to-hire opportunity in Tampa, Florida for an Enterprise Data and Platform Security Engineer. The role provides a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $120,000 per year, plus benefits, and requires a Bachelor's degree. This lead position focuses on safeguarding sensitive data across endpoints, networks, cloud services, and enterprise platforms while shaping security engineering capabilities across cloud infrastructure, identity systems, data services, Kubernetes and container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and platform observability.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate data protection controls to safeguard sensitive information across endpoints, networks, cloud services, and enterprise platforms.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, application, legal, privacy, and business teams to reduce the risk of data loss.
- Improve governance and support regulatory compliance efforts.
- Strengthen the organization's overall security posture.
- Build and scale security engineering capabilities across cloud infrastructure, identity systems, data services, Kubernetes and container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, and platform observability.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles (confidentiality, integrity, availability, least privilege, defense in depth), data protection, networks, operating systems, cloud fundamentals, and common threat vectors affecting enterprise IT.
- Familiarity with enterprise environments, ticketing systems, and documentation practices.
- Strong experience with SIEM, DLP, or endpoint monitoring tools, with the ability to navigate dashboards and review complex security alerts.
- Ability to interpret logs from systems such as Active Directory, VPN, endpoints, and cloud platforms to identify anomalous activity.
- Capacity to independently investigate complex incidents, build timelines, gather evidence, and document findings.
- Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for leadership, including executive briefings, risk summaries, and program recommendations.
- Proven capability to manage multiple alerts or tasks simultaneously, prioritize by risk, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
