Job Description

Stellant Systems is seeking an EPC Design Engineer to join its Torrance, CA facility on an onsite basis. This role supports electrical power hardware for Xenon Ion Propulsion Systems, including Power Processing Units (PPUs), and provides additional support for Electric Power Conditioners (EPCs) for Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers as needed. The position combines circuit development with production-minded technical leadership across a multidisciplinary engineering group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design high voltage power supply circuits.
  • Test and troubleshoot circuits and power supplies.
  • Guide program management for technical issues and help ensure successful production outcomes.
  • Support customer meetings and milestone activities, including CDR, PDR, and MRR, guiding the team through those events.
  • Mentor, develop, and train junior engineers.
  • Identify innovative technologies and oversee new product development to maintain industry leadership.
  • Support new business efforts through proposal review and improvements to existing designs.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree in a related field, with EE preferred, plus post graduate work a plus.
  • Experience designing and/or testing electronic power conditioners or similar devices, with space industry experience considered a major plus.
  • Understanding and comfort with EE design topics such as circuit design, electric stress analysis, worst case analysis, and single event upset, among others.
  • Proficiency with circuit design tools including Spice, Altium, and similar tools.
  • Ability to read top-level specifications and translate them into electrical design needs.
  • Experience supporting testing of electrical hardware preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with PPUs or other high voltage products preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using root cause corrective action (RCCA) methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineering degree in a related field (EE preferred), with post graduate work a plus.
