Job Description

Field Engineer role at FourQuest Energy delivering specialized procedure development, onsite technical support, bid/RFQ assistance, and Health & Safety and Quality Management Systems compliance in Indianapolis, IN (onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Develop cleaning, flushing, testing, and other specialized procedures
  • Troubleshoot technical problems involving momentum, mass, and energy transport, including fluid flow in piping, fluid mixing, and fluid compressibility using principles from chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, and related physical/natural sciences
  • Complete engineering calculations including cleaning force ratio for compressible and non-compressible flow, fluid velocity, volume and mass flow rates, reaction force, and heat and mass transfer
  • Provide technical recommendations to field staff on equipment, chemistry, service, and durations during job execution
  • Revise onsite procedures, including marking P&IDs, creating valve alignment sheets, and recalculating mass flows, velocities, or heat loss due to job modifications
  • Conduct system walkdowns and perform field verifications
  • Support Operations with hands-on tasks to learn equipment, procedures, and business
  • Provide initial bid request assessment by calculating system volumes, lengths, equipment requirements, and outlining basic job methodology
  • Research and coordinate equipment and materials with vendors as needed
  • Coordinate with Operations, Sales, and Proposals to support preparation of an RFQ
  • Actively participate in FourQuest Health & Safety policies and practices and ensure adherence to safety legislation
  • Communicate HSE issues or concerns to your Manager or Supervisor and propose constructive solutions
  • Ensure client safety obligations are completed per agreement terms and communicated to relevant parties
  • Work with Engineering leadership in setting, executing, and monitoring company business goals and policies
  • Maintain adherence to FourQuest Quality Management Systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

Key Accountabilities

  • Procedure Development: develop cleaning, flushing, testing, and other specialized procedures; apply physics/chemistry/maths/engineering to problems involving fluid flow, mixing, and compressibility; perform calculations such as cleaning force ratio, velocity, flow rates, reaction forces, and heat/mass transfer
  • Technical Support: recommend equipment, chemistry, service approach, and durations; update onsite procedures (P&ID marking, valve alignment sheets, recalculations for mass flows/velocities/heat loss); complete system walkdowns and field verifications; assist Operations with hands-on learning
  • Sales Support: assess bid requests (system volumes, lengths, equipment requirements, basic methodology); coordinate equipment/materials with vendors; liaise with Operations, Sales, and Proposals on RFQs
  • Health & Safety: follow safety legislation and FourQuest H&S practices; escalate HSE concerns with solutions; ensure client obligations are met per agreements
  • Other: support Engineering leadership on business goals/policies; ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems; complete duties assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering Sciences (Chemical or Mechanical)
  • License Class C
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
  • Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • Basic First Aid; Advanced First Aid preferred
  • 0-5 years experience in Oil and Gas field service related to FourQuest Energy’s service lines
  • 0-5 years of pre-commissioning experience
  • 0-5 years of field experience
