Fire Protection Engineer (Forensic Engineering)
Job Description
SEA, Ltd. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer with a focus in forensic engineering to lead field investigations of fires and related systems. The position is onsite in Houston, TX, and involves preparing written reports, providing expert testimony, and sustaining strong client relationships through technical expertise and professional communication.
Responsibilities
- Investigate fires in commercial and residential environments, including potential involvement of mechanical and fire protection systems.
- Conduct on-site field investigations and perform forensic engineering analyses of incidents involving fires, fire protection systems, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, boilers, gas systems, and plumbing systems.
- Carry out unbiased investigations for diverse clients and purposes.
- Present technical findings and conclusions in plain language, both orally and in written reports.
- Maintain and develop relationships with clients to support ongoing engagement and project work.
- Prepare written reports documenting findings and results when requested by clients or stakeholders.
- Explain the investigation, analysis, and conclusions to clients in lay terms.
- Deliver professional presentations, build client relationships, and increase visibility within client groups.
- Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings as required.
- Maintain current professional and technical knowledge by attending company-sponsored workshops, reviewing publications, networking, and participating in professional societies.
- Develop and sustain client relations through consistent communication and performance.

Essential Job Functions
- Perform fire investigations at commercial and residential sites that may involve mechanical systems or fire protection equipment.
- Execute on-site fieldwork and forensic engineering analyses of incidents involving fires, fire protection systems, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, boilers, gas systems, and plumbing systems.
- Conduct impartial investigations for a range of clients.
- Convey technical findings and conclusions in accessible language, both verbally and in written format.
