General Engineer
Job Description
Join the National Telecommunications and Information Administration as a General Engineer within the Office of Spectrum Management, where your technical analyses help shape how RF spectrum is allocated, managed, and governed on an international scale. This onsite role in Washington, DC centers on spectrum policy support, engineering evaluation, and collaboration with federal partners and private sector stakeholders to advance responsible spectrum use.

Salary: USD 85,447 - 133,142 per year
Responsibilities
- Perform technical analyses to support the development and assessment of domestic and international spectrum policy and regulations, including spectrum repurposing, ITU World Radiocommunication Conferences, FCC rulemakings, and the NTIA Redbook.
- Conduct or evaluate RF propagation, link budgets, and electromagnetic compatibility analyses for terrestrial, airborne, and space-based systems.
- Assess the technical impact of new or proposed systems on shared and adjacent bands to protect critical federal operations such as communications, radar, satellite, and aviation services.
- Implement standardized methodologies and processes for RF analyses and measurements within the Office of Spectrum Management.
- Collaborate with other federal agencies and the private sector to identify opportunities for cooperation on domestic and international initiatives related to spectrum resource identification and management.
- Apply knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks that underpin spectrum management policy domestically and internationally, with emphasis on the NTIA Redbook and ITU Radio Regulations.
- Participate in interagency or intergovernmental working groups, committees, or conferences addressing technical and policy issues at national and international levels.

- SECRET CLEARANCE is required; all investigations and clearances must be completed before placement.
