Job Description

Novus seeks a Senior RF Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of RF systems in Overland Park, Kansas (onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of RF circuits such as amplifiers, filters, antennas, and transceivers, using MATLAB, Simulink, and SystemVerilog for simulations.
  • Perform root cause analyses on RF system issues, debugging hardware and software components to resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to integrate RF modules with digital platforms including FPGA, SoC, and embedded firmware; leverage C++, Python, and Perl for automation.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics and PCB layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks while complying with NEC and NFPA 70 standards.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of RF components and systems to verify specifications, including signal processing validation and system development verification, and perform debugging as needed.
  • Manage project schedules by planning milestones for circuit design, PCB manufacturing, system integration, and testing to ensure timely delivery.
  • Support manufacturing processes through PCB design reviews, SMT assembly oversight, soldering quality assurance, and SMT component placement.
  • Use simulation tools to model control and electrical systems for industrial automation applications involving PLCs and control system design.
  • Engage in continuous improvement by analyzing system performance data to optimize RF hardware configurations and firmware updates.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including schematics, technical reports, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in RF circuit design, including amplifiers, filters, antennas, and transceivers, with proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Strong background in FPGA development with SystemVerilog; familiarity with SoC integration is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in PCB design using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks; knowledge of SMT assembly processes.
  • Proficiency in electrical schematic design aligned with NEC standards; experience designing electrical systems for industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis for complex RF hardware and software issues; proficient with debugging tools including ohmmeters and vision inspection systems.
  • Knowledge of signal processing techniques relevant to communications systems; experience with firmware development in C++, Python, or Perl for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation protocols including PLCs and control systems engineering principles.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to RF enclosures or antenna positioning systems; ability to interpret mechanical drawings using Revit or MicroStation is beneficial.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70 electrical building codes and safety standards for electronics manufacturing environments.

Pay

$93,693.85 - $112,835.61 per year
