Job Description

Port Washington, NY onsite role for Rebmann Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning focusing on designing high-performance HVAC systems and providing application support to installation teams. This consultative technical sales position works with customers to close premium-value projects while ensuring design accuracy and installation feasibility. The role carries a salary range of USD 125,000 to 300,000 per year and involves collaboration with clients, installers, and management across Long Island and the NYC metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate load calculations and complete HVAC system designs for residential and commercial projects
  • Select and size equipment including heat pumps, gas furnaces, ductless/mini-split systems, zoning, and hydronic/steam boilers
  • Work directly with customers to present system recommendations, answer technical questions, and close high-value projects
  • Collaborate with installation teams to ensure design accuracy and reduce field adjustments, callbacks, and redesigns
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation and design standards
  • Drive revenue growth through accurate designs, premium system recommendations, and high customer satisfaction
  • Represent Rebmann at customer appointments, trade events, and site visits across Long Island and NYC metro

Requirements

  • Proven HVAC system design experience: load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, ductwork application
  • Proficiency with ductless/mini-split systems, heat pumps, zoning systems, and gas furnace applications
  • Experience with hydronic or steam boiler design (strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated consultative sales skills, with the ability to present technical solutions and close premium-value projects
  • Strong communication skills across customers, installers, and management
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage a project pipeline and meet performance targets
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (field-based role)

Preferred / Parallel Experience

  • Manufacturer or distributor rep experience (Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Bosch, or comparable)
  • Building automation systems (BAS/BMS) sales or design background
  • Mechanical contracting project management or estimating
  • Commercial plumbing, hydronic, or radiant heating design
  • NYC metro area or Long Island market familiarity
