Job Description
Launch Vehicle Project Engineer role at MANTECH in Cape Canaveral, FL provides LV systems engineering and program support for US Space Force initiatives to redefine the National Security Space Launch future.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert LV systems engineering across propulsion, avionics, structures, mechanical systems, guidance, navigation and control, mission analysis, software, manufacturing engineering, mission assurance, and launch operations at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station site.
- Support core systems engineering activities including requirements definition, design and test reviews, pedigree analysis, hardware acceptance, performance verification, operations, and post-flight analyses with robust risk assessments and mitigation planning.
- Prepare and directly back customer teams for launch contractor activities such as reviews, audits, site walkdowns, rehearsals, launch operations, and anomaly resolution while ensuring proper technical data management and protection of proprietary information.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including The Aerospace Corporation, new launch contractors, site personnel, production teams, and suppliers, while complying with USSF and NASA range systems and operations.
- Act as the technical authority in your specialty area, supporting USSF briefings, status reviews, and Space Systems Command processes through detailed evaluations, technical reports, and analytical decision-making.
- Show proactive problem solving and sound engineering judgment, displaying initiative and collaboration in risk assessment, failure analysis, and multi-disciplinary challenge resolution.
- Demonstrate experience with LV design and systems such as liquid propellant rocket engines, ordnance, hydraulics, avionics, ground support equipment, composite materials, and end-to-end lifecycle processes from design through launch and anomaly resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical) or a STEM field; 1.5 years of relevant experience may substitute for each year of education requirement.
- Five or more years of systems engineering, technical program management, or related experience.
