Lead Controls Engineer

The Lead Controls Engineer role in Mount Clemens, MI is responsible for leading the electrical and controls function on complex automated equipment projects, including technical coordination, design review, and troubleshooting during build and testing.

Role Overview

This position leads electrical and controls activities across automation initiatives. The Lead Controls Engineer coordinates technical personnel with engineering and project teams, reviews electrical and controls deliverables to support correct and on-time execution, and addresses controls and electrical issues during build and testing. The role also contributes to process development and standards that support the growth of the controls function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and controls efforts on complex automation projects.
• Coordinate technical personnel and collaborate closely with engineering and project teams.
• Review electrical designs, drawings, and controls hardware to support accurate delivery and schedule adherence.
• Troubleshoot controls and electrical issues throughout build and testing.
• Support development of processes and improved standards, influencing how the controls function expands.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in controls, automation, or electrical engineering.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and automated machinery.
• Confidence reading and troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Experience leading or coordinating engineers, electricians, or other technical personnel.
• Comfort taking ownership of technically challenging automation projects.
