Job Description
Resource Innovations' Lead Java Software Engineer role on the SaaS team, serving as a hands-on technical lead to design, develop, and deploy cloud-based enterprise software for energy utilities; remote with occasional in-person meetings for select US metro areas and residency requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the full software development lifecycle for cloud-native enterprise applications, including design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support in a fast-paced distributed environment.
- Design and build cloud-native solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
- Develop and integrate REST and SOAP web services, API Gateways, and relational databases to create scalable, high-performance systems.
- Ensure designs meet performance, security, usability, reliability, and scalability requirements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and common design patterns.
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to ongoing improvements in development standards.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, including production support and performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize applications for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product, and Business teams using Agile methods (Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Git) to deliver quality software on time.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving technologies, including AI-assisted development practices, and recommend improvements to tools, frameworks, and engineering processes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience delivering high-performance, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with Java, Python, and Spring Boot.
- Experience with MySQL and at least one NoSQL database.
- Familiarity with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, log analytics, and application performance monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of Apache Camel, messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, and data pipelines.
- Experience with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes (preferred).
- Microservices design and implementation experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with clear critical thinking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on quality and maintainability.
- Interest in sustainability and making a meaningful environmental impact.
