Role overview
You will join a fast moving team in the Commercial & Investment Banking discipline, delivering trusted market leading technology products in a secure, stable and scalable manner. As a core technical contributor, you will drive solutions across multiple domains, enabling scalable data flows and AI powered capabilities that integrate with bankers’ daily tools such as CRM, market data platforms, modeling environments, and compliance systems. The goal is to transform complex client, deal and market data into reliable insights and operationalized outputs across downstream systems.
What you will do
- Design and implement intricate components across backend services, APIs and UI experiences using Java, Python and React, applying sound engineering judgment and practical architecture.
- Advance agentic capabilities with the Smart SDK, including tool integration, orchestration patterns and production grade safety and reliability guardrails.
- Champion enterprise approved AI assisted engineering practices to raise code quality, speed of delivery and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and encouraging reuse of proven patterns.
- Leverage the software development life cycle toolchain and AI assisted development capabilities to maximize automation value and efficiency.
- Build and fine tune end to end retrieval augmented generation pipelines (ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval, reranking, prompt/response patterns) with OpenSearch, focusing on relevance, latency and robustness.
- Write secure, high quality production code and elevate the codebase through rigorous reviews, debugging and mentoring peers to improve maintainability and performance.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying recurring issues and implementing automation, preventative controls and reliability improvements to reduce toil.
- Engineer data and search solutions using PostgreSQL and OpenSearch to support AI and analytics workflows.
- Contribute to cloud native engineering on AWS, collaborating on infrastructure as code with Terraform and enhancing deployment safety, environment consistency and observability.
- Participate in technical evaluation sessions with internal partners and external vendors to assess architecture, depth and alignment with existing platforms.
- Promote modern engineering practices and knowledge sharing to accelerate adoption of leading edge technologies.
What we require
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience
- Strong hands on expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot and microservices architecture, building secure, production grade systems
- Proficiency with AWS, Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins and modern developer tooling (GitHub Copilot)
- Proven experience leading effective use of AI assisted development tools and setting team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance and security
- Solid understanding of responsible AI in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs and adherence to resiliency and security requirements; experience coaching teams on safe adoption
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, GraphQL
- Containerization: Docker and orchestration with ECS, EKS or Kubernetes
- Experience building, debugging and maintaining software in a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Ability to produce high quality code across one or more languages with strong debugging skills
- Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within fields such as cloud and artificial intelligence
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, CloudWatch) and a proven track record of leading high performing teams through influence
