Job Description

Lead Software Engineer - Middleware role at JPMorgan Chase in New York, onsite, focusing on designing, developing, and securing middleware solutions across multiple business functions.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers innovative software solutions through design, development, and debugging, with the ability to tackle nontraditional problems to create effective solutions
  • Writes secure, high quality production code and conducts reviews and debugging of colleagues' code
  • Identifies opportunities to automate recurring remediation tasks to enhance operational stability of applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs, credentials, and fit within current systems and information architecture
  • Promotes adoption of enterprise authorized AI assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, including AI aided code review and refactoring, faster test strategies, and incident root cause analysis support; establishes validation standards such as secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promotes reusable patterns across the team
  • Leverages SDLC toolchain knowledge, including enterprise AI assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation value

Requirements

  • 5+ years of middleware software development experience
  • Deliver system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for production services
  • Develop software with advanced proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Implement automation and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
  • Execute across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of financial services and common enterprise IT systems
  • Deliver solutions using practical cloud native engineering experience
  • Exposure to AWS with Terraform
