Job Description

Lead Software Engineer role at JPMorganChase in Houston, TX, onsite, focused on secure, scalable Python and AWS data workflows with agentic AI capabilities across multiple business functions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot software solutions with innovative approaches to tackle complex problems.
  • Deliver secure, production-grade code; review and debug code produced by teammates.
  • Identify and automate recurring remediation to boost the stability of applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectures, credentials, and fit within existing information architecture.
  • Drive communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Support a team culture centered on diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering and application development, plus 7+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in Python and/or Java with a proven record of secure, production-quality code.
  • Extensive experience building cloud-native solutions on AWS, including compute, storage, security/IAM, networking, and observability.
  • Strong background with large language models and agentic systems, covering orchestration patterns, tool calls, retrieval, structured outputs, evaluations, and safety guardrails.
  • Experience delivering data-intensive applications and workflows using Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, jobs/workflows).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React for modern web applications.
  • Automation and continuous delivery proficiency, with solid SDLC discipline (CI/CD, testing, code quality, release controls).
  • Advanced understanding of agile delivery, application resiliency, and secure engineering practices.
  • Strong system design skills with the ability to make pragmatic trade-offs and align stakeholders.
