Lead Substation Protection and Controls Engineer

Join Leidos as a Lead Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to drive high-voltage utility substation protection and control design work across remote and hybrid schedules.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of substation protection and control design projects
• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters
• Own each project end-to-end, including management of financials, resources, and design delivery
• Serve as a liaison for external clients, coordinating and collaborating to support project execution
• Continuously improve design quality and maximize overall project outcomes
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients throughout the project lifecycle
• Support definition of design scope, design philosophies, and design methodologies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree
• Eight (8+) or more years of direct experience in substation protection and control design
• Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management

Work Schedule

• Hybrid: (1 - 3) days per week on site at the client’s office in Allentown, PA
• Remote: (2 - 4) days per week, working from your location
• Location requirement: Qualified candidates must be located near the Allentown, PA area

Would Be Nice If You Had

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Master’s degree in a related field
• Experience leading a project team
• Some experience in substation physical design
• Field testing and/or commissioning experience

Pay Range

• USD 107,900 - 195,050 per year
