Lead Substation Protection and Controls Engineer
Job Description
Join Leidos as a Lead Substation Protection and Controls Engineer to drive high-voltage utility substation protection and control design work across remote and hybrid schedules.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of substation protection and control design projects
- Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters
- Own each project end-to-end, including management of financials, resources, and design delivery
- Serve as a liaison for external clients, coordinating and collaborating to support project execution
- Continuously improve design quality and maximize overall project outcomes
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Support definition of design scope, design philosophies, and design methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree
- Eight (8+) or more years of direct experience in substation protection and control design
- Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management
Work Schedule
- Hybrid: (1 - 3) days per week on site at the client’s office in Allentown, PA
- Remote: (2 - 4) days per week, working from your location
- Location requirement: Qualified candidates must be located near the Allentown, PA area

Would Be Nice If You Had
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience leading a project team
- Some experience in substation physical design
- Field testing and/or commissioning experience
Pay Range
- USD 107,900 - 195,050 per year
