Lead Substation Protection and Controls Engineer
Job Description
Leidos is hiring a Lead Substation Protection and Control Engineer to lead and design high voltage utility substation protection and control projects in a hybrid setup based in Allentown, PA.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key contributor to the development of substation protection and control design projects
- Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters
- Own project delivery end to end, including management of financials, resources, and design
- Act as a liaison to external clients by leading, coordinating, and collaborating with stakeholders
- Continuously improve design quality and maximize overall project performance
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients
- Help define design scope, philosophies, and design methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related degree
- Eight (8+) plus years of direct experience in substation protection and control design
- Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management
Schedule and Location
- Hybrid: 1 to 3 days per week on site at the client’s office in Allentown, PA
- Remote: 2 to 4 days per week, work from where you are
- Qualified candidates must be located near the Allentown, PA area

Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience leading a project team
- Some experience in substation physical design
- Field testing/commissioning experience
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 107,900 - 195,050 per year
- Pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee; offer considerations include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, market alignment, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), and other applicable law
