Mechanical Engineer or Sr. Mechanical Engineer - MEP Consulting Engineering Firm

Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer is sought to lead the development and expansion of the Salt Lake City office for Cator, Ruma & Associates, an MEP consulting firm. The role centers on institutional mechanical systems and encompasses design leadership, client relations, and strategic growth of the local practice. The position operates on a hybrid schedule based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 85,000 to 140,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Cator Ruma's Principals across Colorado, Idaho and Wyoming to align on project goals and firm strategy.
• Participate in business development, including client relationship management, proposal preparation, and pursuit strategy.
• Contribute to internal leadership, office growth, staffing, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Provide project oversight, including scope, schedule, and budget management.
• Interface directly with coworkers, clients, and end users to understand and document expectations.
• Lead the project during design and construction phases.
• Complete project designs and drawings in 3D Revit and/or 2D CAD, perform site observations, develop specifications and calculations, select equipment and applications, and perform construction administration as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Three to seven years of consulting engineering experience.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• High level of written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Strong team player with a desire to contribute to the firm's growth.
